The Harmony Facade 1

We were asked to study the lower floors of this 1970’s building and suggest a solution for repairing and creating a new facade at the street. The taut skin of gridded, enameled aluminum panels has no distinguishable base as it rises up the building. Our proposal suggests torqued aluminum bays that establish a solid three storey base and call out the commercial venues on the street in planar volumes. Mesh screens protrude above the first floor for solar shading of the larger windowed spaces.
