Artists Studio

A free standing garage on the grounds of avante-garde artists and choreographer’s home on the East End of Long Island was redesigned to accommodate a studio on the second floor while maintaining a garage and workshop on the ground level. New cubic massing was designed to envelope the volume monolithically with a stuccoed concrete frame around two sides of the facade, providing seclusion from adjacent neighbors. Softer, more tactile facades wrapped in waved shingles slope as they rise to the roof, while peeling away to reveal windows, doors and hint at a concealed balcony.
